Admissions

If you would like your child to attend St George’s, you will be invited to meet the headteacher and/or the class-teacher to ensure you are clear about school life and procedures. An induction programme for your child will also be arranged at this time.

Our admissions procedure is in accordance with Portsmouth City Council Admission Policy. A copy of this policy is available from the school office or the link below. As a church school we will consider children outside of the catchment but with religious convictions. For further advice please contact the school office.

Application forms for admissions, from Reception through to Year 6, can be obtained from Portsmouth Local Authority, Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth. The admissions team process admissions: starting school, mid year applications, moving into the area and those changing schools. The school can accept pupils directly only when the year group has 10% free capacity. Where the classes are full a waiting list is held by the Local Authority. Children will be admitted to Reception in the academic year when they are five.

A positive start can be given to your child from the age of 3 as we have nursery places in our Foundation Stage Unit. The unit consists of two classes of mixed Nursery and Reception aged children. The Nursery aged pupils are entitled to 6 sessions a week in our Foundation Stage Unit; attending for up to two years making entry into this school as smooth and happy as possible.
